About Eventsense - The UK's Original Events Marketplace
Eventsense began long before "online marketplaces" became a trend.
Launched in 2012, we were the first UK events marketplace, created not by a corporation or venture-funded startup, but by a
single developer solving a real problem for a friend.
Today, Eventsense remains an independent, founder-led platform helping thousands of event organisers connect directly with talented local suppliers - fairly, sustainably, and transparently.
Our Story
Eventsense started when a friend working in the events industry kept running into the same issue:
The biggest challenge in event planning is finding good suppliers who are available when you need them
Whether it was entertainers, caterers, marquee companies, DJs, or
photographers, the process was slow, repetitive, and frustrating.
So I set out to build something that would solve the problem:
A place where anyone could publish their event requirements and suppliers could respond if they were available.
It worked - and it grew.
Fast.
When Eventsense launched, it made a stir. Some people assumed we were a large US tech company. Others feared we were causing a "race to the bottom." But many welcomed the idea, and their support helped the marketplace grow organically.
First in the UK - and Still Independent
After Eventsense launched in 2012, a number of other event marketplaces entered the industry. Many arrived with large marketing budgets and outside investment.
But that was never our mission.
Eventsense has always been:
- Self-funded
- Independent
- Sustainable
- Affordable
- Ethically priced
We keep overheads low and pass savings directly to suppliers. No
inflated fees. No investor-driven growth targets. Just a genuine
platform created for the people who work in the events industry.
This lets us:
- Improve the platform quickly
- Respond personally
- Keep pricing fair
- Prioritise people over profits
- Stay human and approachable

Why Eventsense Does Not Take Payments, Commission or Offer “Buyer Protection”
Eventsense is a UK events marketplace designed for direct booking between organisers and suppliers. Unlike many managed booking platforms, we deliberately do not handle payments, deposits, refunds, or contracts - and there is a clear reason for this.
Many large event booking websites now operate as booking intermediaries, adding:
- Client service fees on top of supplier quotes
- Commission of 10-20% (or more) taken from suppliers
- Restrictions on speaking directly before booking
- Platform-controlled payment systems
- Dispute and refund processes run by the marketplace
This model often results in higher prices for event organisers and lower earnings for suppliers - while reducing transparency and direct accountability.
Industry professionals repeatedly highlight that so-called “buyer protection” schemes usually duplicate protections that professional event suppliers already provide as standard, such as:
- Written contracts
- Public liability insurance
- Contingency and backup cover
- Secure card payment systems
- Reputation built on verified reviews and repeat work
The Eventsense Direct Connection Model
Eventsense operates as a pure connection platform, not a booking agent.
That means:
- We do not take commission from suppliers
- We do not charge client service fees
- We do not restrict direct communication
- We do not handle money, deposits, or refunds
- We do not sit inside your contract
Once you make contact on Eventsense:
- You communicate directly with the supplier
- You agree all terms directly
- You pay the supplier directly
- Your legal contract is between you and them
- We are not a party to the transaction
This keeps pricing transparent, removes hidden fee layers, and ensures suppliers receive 100% of what they earn.
Why We Believe This Is Better for Both Parties
Professional event suppliers already work under real-world commercial obligations. By allowing direct relationships to form:
- Organisers receive true market pricing
- Suppliers avoid inflated platform commission
- Trust is built through real conversations
- Issues are resolved person-to-person
- Decisions are made based on quality, not platform ranking algorithms
By staying independent of payments and contracts, Eventsense remains:
- Fair and neutral
- Free from fee-driven influence
- Focused on long-term trust
- Aligned with the real structure of the events industry
This approach protects organisers, suppliers, and the integrity of the marketplace itself.
For absolute clarity:
- We do not act as an agent or broker
- We do not process payments or hold client funds
- We do not take commission from bookings
- We do not offer insurance, guarantees, or buyer protection schemes
- We do not confirm availability
- We do not control contracts or cancellations
All bookings are agreed directly between the organiser and the supplier. Eventsense provides the platform and the tools to connect - nothing more, nothing less.
A Decade of Trust

- Helped thousands of events across the UK
- Connected organisers with reliable local suppliers
- Remained stable and independent through industry changes and challenges
- Supported a platform built around people, not investors.
