Bugfest's owner and creator, Nick, unlike others who have to combine and add up their experience between their team mates to sound better, has a genuine forty six years lifetime of experience in natural history, entomology, wildlife, habitats and conservation in both native UK and overseas fauna. If we were to do what other outfits do in this respect and added all of our team' 'experience together, we could falsely claim nearly one hundred and fifty years combined experience between us. Sounds good right? But, it IS really really deceptive. What we will say, though, is we are now so much in demand that the team has now been expanded. We have an enormous range of exotic jungle minibeasts between us, and a range of professionally qualified presenters from EYFS, to youth work as well as biological sciences up to PhD levels. All of the team are specifically selected for their ability to engage and amaze the young minds we are privileged to be working with. Nick has thirty one years of experience working with children, initially as a beaver scout leader in the nineties and more recent decades as a qualified teacher, teacher training lecturer, and Bugfest facilitator all over the UK. He is a member of the Verrall Association of Entomologists and has been awarded a Fellowship of The Royal Entomological Society in recognition of a lifetime achievement and excellence in promoting and contributing to entomology science. He is a trustee and council member of the Amateur Entomologist's Society and Nick is also a member of Equity - the professional performer's actor's union. Nick also works as an executive producer on a children's animated wildlife show and is a published children's nature author. Whilst we may attend events where animals are provided by others, we ourselves do not use them. We are out every day of the week all year round and do not have time to look after them ourselves, let alone take them everywhere with us. It really is not a humane practice these days! If, however, you truly love animals and respect their needs and wellbeing, and you want an experienced presenter, with the ability to manage groups of children from ten to several hundred, thousands even, then look no further. Nick and the team have performed live shows on stage to hundreds of thousands at BBC Children in Need events, live performances on stage at BBC Carfest, presented a live outside broadcast for BBC South, presented live on Virgin Radio to the nation with Chris Evans, and performed for Channel Four Super Vet Noel Fitzpatrick at the National Pet Show. Covering over one thousand miles a week, every week, Bugfest now appears around the country at Haven Holiday Parks, Parkdean Resorts and Park Leisure, Park Holidays, Bunn Leisure (now Seal Cove) and various theatres nationwide. Nick visited Weymouth Connect in the afternoon on 3oth April. We are a generic Day Service offering a service to clients of varying abilities including Older persons, Learning disabilities and Physical disabilities. The joy that it gave to so many of our clients was amazing, to see the participation of many clients, some who are not always as engaged in activities as others.
