Anna Tam - cello
Virtuoso cellist and soprano Anna Tam brings elegant entertainment to any event. Based in London and able to travel throughout the UK either as a soloist or with accompaniment she is renowned for her masterful playing and professionalism. During her early training Anna sang at St Mark’s Basilica, Venice and performed cello on BBC Radio 3 and Canadian television. Aged just 17 she performed at the Wigmore Hall and at the Purcell Room whilst taking her undergraduate at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has performed JS Bach’s suites for solo cello on a European tour and taken several European tours with the Shallid String Trio. In 2012 she played on BBC2’s ‘The Culture Show’ and gave the premiere of a previously undiscovered aria by Vivaldi on BBC1’s ‘Britain’s Hidden Heritage’. She sings soprano and plays viola da gamba with the Mediaeval Baebes with whom she has toured several times in the UK and North America and performed on Radio 2, ITV’s ‘Daybreak’ and many American stations. ‘Chamber Music’, her recent composition based on James Joyce’s poem cycle of the same name premiered at the Brighton Fringe Festival in May 2013. Anna has just released her debut album “With love…” A selection of the most beautiful classical works for cello and soprano including pieces by Bach, Chopin and Rachmaninov.
